Monday Feb 6, 2012

This morning we all awoke early and ready to get on with our trip - anxious or what? Edith and I got out for a 50 minute walk after breakfast. When we got back home we had a light lunch and at 1 o'clock we started out for the 2 1/2 hour drive to Toronto.

Once settled in our rooms we went to a little restaurant/bar for beer and onion rings then went back to our rooms to ready ourselves for dinner at The Texas Lone Star Restaurant where we had a delicious dinner. Seems we eat a lot wouldn't you say?
Following dinner we met Bob and Edith's son Ross at his place of work for a very interesting tour. Ross is an air traffic controller at the Pearson International Airport. What a high stress job that is! So much so they are required to take several scheduled breaks throughout their shift to remain well rested and alert while at work stations. We saw flight paths of planes coming in over Manitoulin from the West to Toronto.. We have often sat at our camp watching jet contrails and wondered where they were coming from and going to - now we have some idea.
Bed time came early for all of us as we had a wakeup time of 5:30 to catch the shuttle at 6:40 for the airport.
Bob driving us crazy - Opps - to Toronto

These pics give you some idea of the amount of snow South of Tara and Owen Sound this year

wind farms - not a good topic of conversation in this neighbourhood
Summer is here - the motor cycles are out already
