Sunday January 31, 2016

This past week has certainly been great - small tasks around the house were done but best of all, Allan's brother  Howard and his wife Theresa, came for their vacation with us.

The house was put in order,

the bedroom was made up - waiting for the weary travelers,

the pool and patio were made ready for some R&R

and dinner was waiting in the slow cooker  when they arrived at 8:30 ish  the evening of Monday Jan 25th.

We took part of a day and went to Cancun for more household items. Theresa found this washing machine she liked, but  Howard couldn't come up with a plan to get it back to Canada.

We found a Darth Vader toaster - who'da thought??

The fruit truck came by, so we  bought a bag of oranges.

Delicious freshly squeezed orange juice!

A new cement pad going down in front of the Red Cross building for parking I think.

 A plantain plant bearing fruit.

The watch dog on someone's roof.

Howard cooking spare ribs -
how nice it is to have charcoal bbq's again!

This is our first trip to the dock this year, fresh fillet fish for dinner tonight anyone?

Lunch at La Panza es Primo - in English - the stomach comes first

This is another restaurant that allows
its guests to enjoy a wonderful view.

Our walk up the beach reveals some changes from last year - especially this condo building presently under construction.

Drinks at My Paradise Beach Bar in the afternoon. A free table or umbrella with lounge chairs and about $12.50 for a bucket of 5 beer - a good deal for sure.

The Osprey nest is still in place.

Road construction of Rojo Gomez

Theresa passing out some of her stick on tattoos

BBQ Burgers for dinner tonight with fresh pineapple!!

A dip in the pool to end the day.

Dinner at Ristoante de Los Tejones

Theresa and Howard celebrated their 44th
wedding anniversary on the 28th of January.
Theresa came out of their bedroom the next morning with the biggest smile - I think she was happy that Howard took her out to dinner the night before. Sooo sweet!

They found out that Espanola is not the only
place there is a Roger Rabit.

We took a day for sightseeing here in the Colonia, the cemetery is always an interesting place to show people. The graves are all above ground.

This was weird though- rusty old casket with plants growing in it????? You have to ask "What happened to the body?"

A nice little house along the roadway,

another home here.

Our next project??

Free range chickens with their rooster.

Dogs just rest anywhere they please. Traffic sometimes drive around them and sometimes not.

Home to another Mexican family.,

Lots of vehicles under repair.

The Catholic church in the village

Howard shopping for vegetables for dinner

A little taco stand on the street corner.

Flowers for Nancy and other plant enthusiasts.

Another batch of fresh squeezed orange
juice for tomorrow's breakfast.

Delicious!

The orange cat still comes by for his meals and water.

Howard preparing the charcoal for tonight's dinner,

BBQ ribs!

Happy Hour.

Howard adjusting the door catch.

Our trees and plants arrived early one morning.

On our grocery shopping trip we came across a flee market.

Later in the day the flee market came to us! Isn't this unique?

Theresa on line with a friend catching up
on the hometown gossip.

Allan and Howard carried my
planted pots to their new locations

then time for a nap.

Howard working in Mexican style - flip flops, a day or so later I caught him climbing the ladder in bare feet! I guess when in Rome do as the Romans do.

Now it is nap time for the men.

Sunday we went to El  Pirata and enjoyed
their brunch, it was excellent.

Then off to My Paradise Beach Club for the balance of the day

A Pirate ship? If it is, it is not under sail and moving, a ghost ship from days gone by?

Allan and Howard went to a local ball game -
Puerto Morelos vs Cancun.

Blowing of the Conch shell opens and closes last call at My Paradise Beach Bar.

BBQ Chicken for dinner

and fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast,

our little newt has several different hiding places - this evening he was between the door and the door jamb.

Looking forward to having more adventures. Nite all!
