Friday24, 2012

Along with temperatures in the mid to higher 30 's degrees C we have been having very high winds. The fishing boats are not allowed to leave shore and some people are taking shelter from the sand storms on the beach today.

The wharf men, fishermen and ocean tour guides  waiting for the winds to go down so they can get back to what they do best.

Something must be happening in the park tonight, we see cleaning of debris from the winds and the stage being set up.

The sewage lines are being installed throughout the town, without rain everything is so dry. Dust is every where and on every thing. I feel bad for anyone visiting in Puerto Morelos for their very first time. The appearance of this year's Puerto Morelos is not the true Puerto Morelos.

I don't know how these people can work in this heat!!! To think their summers come with only higher temperatures.

Later in the morning we decided to make a trip in to Play del Carmen for lunch. This time we took a smaller bus.

Spray paint art on Playa's 5th Ave

Edith fell in love with this Mexican frog;
you have to admit he is cute

I love the colours

This is a little church on 5th Ave.

This little one is enjoying relaxation and people watching

More of what we women love!

This is Edith's favourite lunch dish while in Playa, it is mixed fruit with lime sherbet washed down with cerveza.

More of those great Mexican colours and designs

We caught a bigger bus back to |Puerto Morelos

Street scenes throughout Playa

If you look close this is a fire station,
you can see a white fire truck on the roof.

When cerveza is served in a mug similar to this, one would think perhaps the establishment may not be licensed to serve it.

Edith found a sea bean on the beach; little did she know at the time that very few sea beans are found in this area. She had this man make it  into a necklace for her when she was told   they are to bring good luck to the wearer and ward off evil.
She and Bob searched the web and found this information to share with you on Sea Beans.

The stage was set up in the park today for good reason; the mayor invited these very talented young dancers to perform.

The costumes were so colourful, I apologize because my camera doesn't portray their full beauty

Flowers for sale, anyone want'a buy some?

Dancers came into the crowd to dance with spectators

The performance was enjoyed by all

Allan has been trying to purchase peanut butter since we got here on the 7th; until tonight he has not been able to find any. I took this photo  because 1) the peanut butter, a 794 gram size, cost him 100 Pesos - that is close to $10.00 Canadian and 2) the manager of the restaurant we had dinner in loves peanut butter as much as Allan,  after he heard the story  he gave him a loaf of homemade bread to go with it.
