almost home

another rainy day - they have not had sunshine in all the time we have been away 12 days!

What a great Vacation, enjoyed it all --

June 10, 2010

No, we were not down graded - I bet you thought I had been asked to leave the ship following another happy hour didn't you. Really if you want to know the truth - Allan threw me overboard - this is the rescue boat coming to get me

Entertainment on the Ship was great too. The only problem I found was that is was at 9 in the evening, by then we were tired from our day's excursion and I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have.

June 9, 2010 Ketchican

This is Ketchican, Alaska

This is Dolly, she is a salon girl. She will not entertain a married man. She says if he can't get it at home there is something wrong with him.

This was a great show - we would watch it again!

Back on the cruise ship

This was our table Bus Boy - he is from Malta and is wanting to become a Canadian Citizen - he was so cute I wanted to take him home but he loves Vancouver. I couldn't sell him on the Manitoulin.

June 8, 2010 Icy Strait Point and Hoonah

This is the community of Hoonah at Icy Point Strait. They catch salmon and can it here for shipping

While here we went kayaking for the first time ever and had a wonderful time. We have our experiences of canoeing on South Bay to be thankful for - we were the 2 oldest in the group and joined by only a few who had never kayaked before. The ability to push and pull your paddle at the same time provides one with speed and control of the vessel. We were way ahead of the rest of the group.

A Whale skull weighing 240 pounds

This port was unique - we were tendered in, this means we had to get off the ship out in the bay and were taken to dock with this vessel above. This boat comes off the ship and when they are finished with their tendering it is put back on the ship. the picture below shows the small boat being put back on the ship.

Here is a fire we noticed on the shore as we were leaving the bay. No one gets excited about these fires - they are common
