We took a walk in the Colonia today - the church has been painted since last year. We didn't go into it on this visit but certainly will before the end of the vacation.
The town workers were planting palm trees, the ground is so hard they don't use a bucket, they use a hydraulic ground breaker.There is very few inches of top soil in this area, the ground is porous lime stone. Wouldn't Mike G have a wonderful time here!

You have to admire people who still live in their Mayan homes, thank goodness for the invention of plastic to keep the rains out.
We stopped at "La Luna IIena" for lunch, they sell pizza, baguettes etc., and at one end of the
restaurant there is a little business that makes sushi.
This fellow is preparing shrimp. I didn't try any - sushi in Mexico heat makes me leary.

Along the roadsides coming into the Puerto Morelos Hotel Zone where we stay there are several signs along the way warning people of crocodiles. They are in the mangrove swamps and occasionally come close to the roadsides where people and animals are walking. I would expect here have been some near misses or possibly not misses or the signage wouldn't be posted. In past years we walked this road to the Colonia several times. We haven't done so yet this year.

We had dinner at Taco.com tonight. This town had the best food!! It makes is so hard to decide where to eat next, Alma Libra's restaurant guide lists 37 eateries on this side of the highway and we have found more not on the list we have. We are only here for 28 days, and can not get to them all? We certainly do try, that is why we gain so much weight when we come here.
