February 16th, 2010

This pic is of the iguana tail - lots of barbs on it - never would have thought

If you want to enlarge a picture for closer viewing just click on it with your mouse.

Today we started with breakfast at Cantina Habanero, went for a walk about town then ventured to the Ya ax che Botanical Garden just a short distance to the South of Puerto Morelos. The entrance fee was 100 Pecos per person - the mosquitoes were free.

If you should decide to make this trip wear comfortable walking shoes - the walking paths are uneven in areas and there are towers to climb if you wish to do so. Bring along drinking water and lots of good insect repellent. The entire walking route will take from 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours at a leisurely walking pace

Hahaha - too funny - the joke is on me, there is supposed to be a picture of the tail of an iquana here - do you see it??? Not here!!

Do you see the stick which is tied to the left side of the pole? There is no root on the stick but there is lots of green leaf on the top. It must be getting it's nutrients from the air

Fungi

A termite nest

These limestone rocks are shaped in the form of a seat
another Mayan artifact perhaps

Another Iguana

These iguana blend in so well with their surroundings, often if they

do not move your eye doesn't pick them up

The kitchen in one of the Mayan display homes

I couldn't cook here, there aren't enough pots and pans

Ruins

One of the various posters through the gardens explaining different exhibits

A little water fall

This log is one of many housing their honey bee - they have no stinger

Another log of honey bees - if you look in the right place (centre hole) you will see one's bottom end

The bark on this tree feels like wax

The park entrance

Just a walk about the town of Puerto Morelos

This and pictures below are of the various signs at Ed's

Cantina Habaneros - I just had to share

Breakfast at Ed's

This is the breakfast menu at Cantina Habaneros - good prices and great food.

If you plan on having breakfast here please be patient, the cook is putting his whole heart and sole into your meal. It takes a little extra time for the proper amount of TLC to be added.

The time should read "early morningish" I hear Ed and Nat sometimes sleep in due to late night - early morning entertainment and customers

This is what happened on February 15, 2010

These dogs greet us every time we walk past to and from downtown Puerto Morelos

Evening entertainment in the square

A little rain storm that came in during the afternoon - took time here
to catch up with family on the webcam and Yahoo Messenger; nice change and got news from home at the same time

Allan weighing in our laundry, their prices are determinded by weight and they do a great job. If you have delicate items it is best to leave them at home or wash them by hand yourself. They use the "KISS" System of doing laundry - "Keep It So Simple" There is no special treatment for special items. The clothes are washed, dried and folded for you and placed in clear plastic bags awaiting your pickup.

Here is a Dodge Dart we have seen in town the last few days

Bob and Edith on their way to the laundry facility - I think they are wondering what delightful surprises they will find in their laundry bag when they take it home tonight. What would be more fun than bikini panties??????
