We left home on Tuesday December 5th very anxious to spend 3 months this year in our Paradise.
Lady looks content - the look on her face says Hmm - guess they are on their way
This is Kris our house/pet sitter. Look at the change in Lady's expression now! Is that a yawn or an open faced smile - Yes! They are on their way, now I am boss!
We were off you 12:30 and the weather is
certainly different from the times we left in January or February in previous years.
Hugh and Donna Corbett came with us to spend a week in the sun. We met them at our hotel then went out to dinner.
The flight was uneventful until the end when Hugh lost his wallet. As he was leaving the plane and walking through the jet bridge he felt someone bump into him, he checked his pocket and the wallet wasn't there. We waited for him to go back to see if it was left in his seat - after he left we wondered (like anyone that knows Hugh would wonder) was it a good idea for Hugh to be on his own. LOL!
Our transfer service "Canada Transfers" was in the lineup waiting for us with cold cloths to cool us off - Hugh found his hottest spot right away and covered it.
Kris our Property Manager and her staff had our
"Casa Pura Vida" all ready for our arrival. After a nice cold cerveza and a rest from the journey we went to
Las Palmeras for a delicious dinner. Oh yes, this will be the last photo on this trip that you will see Hugh in his glasses. Yes he lost them later that evening before we got back home!
Our waiter Abandio is still working there -
it was so nice to see him again.
Hugh enjoying his seafood soup.
This is the Christmas Tree in the town square
A fellow selling stuffies on our street
The Ice Cream Man came by with his cart of delicious ice cream, Hugh was seriously thinking of taking up a
part time job during his stay.
We stopped at Ole's for a beer - Donna said she just wanted a small one. And it was a small one she got.
Hugh along with the rest of us ordered the Mega Grande
Donna did get her medium sized beer though. We have had lots of laughs over Ole's small draft beer.
A trip to paradise wouldn't be complete without
a dip in the ocean.
One of the many walking vendors on the beach -
There are so many
of them now compared to a few years back.
Donna and our waiter Eddie at My Paradise Beach Bar.
Allan and Donna soaking up the heat in the shade.
This new building - just South of My Paradise Beach Bar is still under construction. It is going to have a great view of the ocean.
A short stroll about town followed our beach time.
The day ended with an awesome chicken dinner cooked on the BBQ
This is the end of our street in the morning of December 10th after a full night of rain.
We were booked for a day trip to Tulum with Francisco owner-operator of La Siesta Tours here in Puerto Morelos. It was a wonderful day!
Our guide was awesome - he was very knowledgeable and very attentive to Donna's needs.
An ocean view from atop the cliff at Tulum
This is Diego our tour guide - such a nice man, very personable and intense - so into his work
We managed to get a few pics with the Mayan tribesmen.
Hugh was off wandering and missed
out on being a part of the photos. Never thought, we should have put a leash and a bell on him. LOL!
Francisco took us to a great little restaurant for a light lunch in the city of Tulum where they serve piglet tacos and bolillos - wonderfully delicious.
This is the bolillo
I didn't see the name of the restaurant but this is it - we were seated in the white canape part of the establishment. It was so busy at the time we were there at about 10 am.
After lunch we went back to Tulum ruins to see these men descend the pole on ropes unwinding slowly. It looks so relaxing.
Once they reach the ground they do a dance around the pole to the music of a flute
Our next stop was at Cenote Tankah where several new divers were taking lessons before diving through the tunnel which goes from here to the ocean.
Then we went to Centoe Azul, here there was more to see, we could walk about on various paths
This is our guide Francisco
Our next stop was at Play del Carmen for shopping and a heavier lunch. We went inside the court yard of Hotel Hacienda Caribe - that is my idea of a .hotel - just beautiful
After shopping we stopped at Tarraya for lunch - a quaint little restaurant on the beach which is in fact the oldest restaurant in Play
A mariachi played us some music, Allan always cringes when he sees them coming.
Back in Puerto Morelos the standing water is still high from the previous night's rain.
Yesterday Hugh was on a mission, baked beans were on the menu for dinner.
On their early morning shopping trip
they came across these birds
Hope this isn't on someone's plate for Christmas dinner - if so it will be slim pickens
Hugh on his way home with the needed ingredients for his Baked Beans
When Donna said it would be an all morning's job for him to get the beans ready to cook for dinner I thought she was joking. She wasn't!
While the beans were being prepared Allan was hooking up the new washing machine. I washed 2 loads of clothes and it works well. It took a while to translate the instructions but we managed - without google translate too.
The following are random pics taken during the week:
Donna in the kitchen
Hugh in front of the TV
Hugh enjoying his country music while watching dinner cook on the BBQ
Allan playing with our resident newt
Donna and Hugh relaxing on the patio
Our new sign was installed yesterday - another of my man-slave jobs Shirley.
A fellow stopped by yesterday with fresh corn, we bought some
for dinner.
Well friends and friends of friends, this is a glimpse of our first week here in Puerto Morelos - our PARADISE! It has been a fantastic week with Hugh and Donna, I hope they are enjoying their time with us as much as we are enjoying them. There have been lots of laughs thus far and we look forward to many more before they leave on Wednesday.
