Feb 26 - Mar 6th 2017 The Wind Down

The last week before going back home..

Familiar sights will soon become a memory.

Allan and I had lunch at Restaurante Chilpayas
close to where we live in the Colonia.

It was a great meal, we enjoyed it so much we
decided we would invite the Maguires and
Purdys when they arrive this week.

We needed to go to Cancun Home Depot so we decided to do a little side trip along the way. We stopped at Plaza Las Americas. Quite an interesting shopping mall.

I am sure to say the shoe stores out number all others by 2 to 1!

Entertainment for the children.

We had Brunch at "Restaurante Toks" - another good choice!

Theresa cooking her dinner for fish night as she knew it was coming soon. Theresa is not an adventurous eater when it comes to eating anything that lives in water.

We needed more lighting in the kitchen - thanks to Home Depot we were able to find just what we needed. Allan and Howard installed it - and what a difference it made.

This is the finished lighting project, it was so needed and goes above and beyond our expectations

One afternoon we slipped into town (the port) to have lunch. These fellows were delivering ice to the Fish Co-op.

Allan met up with Charlie Brown - Charlie is a permanent friendly face at the docks.

We had lunch here at Caribelos, right behind the lighthouse.

This is their menu -  prices are very reasonable and
the food is just awesome. Allan says the best beer batter
shrimp in the town.

Following an enjoyable lunch we took a walk up the beach.

We found people in the Happy Ending Massage Tent.

This fellow fell asleep apparently.

Someone was enjoying the feel of the sea breeze
 and warm sunshine.

That evening Allan and I went to El Pesquero for dinner and met with

The Maguires

and The Purdys.

This is a seafood restaurant and it was the last day
of lobster season, lobster was certainly on our
minds for dinner along with fish.

Their food is soooo goood! We always come back here once or twice at least during our time in Puerto Morelos.

Casa Pura Vida had an interesting visitor,

a beautiful grass hopper I think - it was the size of our praying mantis

Isn't it beautiful!

The children of our community are so photogenic and happy.

This huge dump truck has been passing through town moving soil, cement waste, etc. and has been having a time turning the 90 degree corners with its long wheel base.

A burger and fries at Restaurante Ole in the Colonia. Our friend Manuel Moguel owns and operates the restaurant. He, his wife Miss Alley and Louis are very friendly and attentive to each and every one of their customers.

This is what Allan and I are going to need one day - kinda cute - I will put a lounge chair in the back for me and Allan can drive - or visa versa, depending on the day.

 Frozen Margarita anyone?

Dinner at Richard's Bistro

If you are dining in the Port you must have this on your list of restaurants to eat at. Delicious!

Beverly certainly cleaned up his plate -
there was nothing to take home
in a dogie bag for sure.

Howard and Theresa have had a hard day at the
beach, after their dinner they are showing signs
of needing a good night's sleep.

We have been doing a lot of resting this year so
the night is still young.

Jan is also ready for some shut eye.

This day started very early, the men went on a fishing trip and had to be at the dock for a 7:30  departure.

Ann and I went to the dock to give them a proper send off.

The fishing crew were Bob, Beverly, Howard and Allan. No Abraham this trip 😓😓

This was a catch and release - what a beautiful coloured fish! The Queen Trigger-fish.

The day wasn't the best for the fishing crew - it was a rough sea and some were sea sick. They did get a good catch though, probably because they had good guides.

Another catch and release. Beautiful!

The waves were high enough to make the fishermen
sea sick - the sharks were fully aware of the
circumstances and patiently waited for one of the men to fall overboard while hurling their last meal.
Had you going there for a minute didn't I?
Actually these were dolphins. Maybe they sensed the state of the men and were ready to lead them back to shore safely. It has been found they do that sort of thing. I really don't think their trip was that bad though.

While the men went fishing Ann and I took a walk up the beach,

We came upon this person seeming to be asleep on a lounge chair. We wondered if he was a late client at the Happy Ending Massage Tent.

Allan in the dentist's chair, - this is when he found out
he had to go to Cancun for a root canal. This year Allan purchased new glasses -eye testing no charge with purchase of glasses - which cost an equivalent to $250.00 Canadian. The root canal was an equivalent to $377.00 Canadian.

This is one of our last days at the beach before heading back home. We were not at the beach much this year due to my parasitic adventure.

One last glimpse of a cruise ship on the horizon for this year.

The Maguire/Purdy group invited us to their condo for a fresh fish dinner. 😃😆

We  discussed this year's vacationing in Puerto Morelos and the changes since last year while Beverly cooked the fish.

Howard and Theresa watched the beach life slowly draw to a close for another day.

Beverly serves up another delicious fish dinner from his
trusty cast iron fry pan which now resides in Puerto Morelos at Casa Pura Vida in a secret spot.

A fruit stand on Timon in the Colonia-  has a great a variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, plants and fish!

This little restaurant is right beside the fruit stand. Nice little spot, good view of the main street and good food.

The Magures and Purdy's came over to Casa Pura Vida for a visit before going to dinner. Not sure what is happening here, there must be something in the air.

Howard and Bob taking in the warmth of a hot day pool side.

What ever is in the air has its grip on the Purdys too.

We went to Restaurante Chilpayas for dinner.
What a rain storm- it was a good thing we had
an umbrella to help keep the rain out of our fish dinners.

Not sure what this was but I think it may have been mushrooms. What ever it was, it was good.

What a day! The winds were high with a constant roar from the waves over the reef and the water was high on shore.

These views are from the Maguire/Purdy Condo.

The Happy Ending Massage Tent looks like it isn't going to be a happy ending day.

We had our last Puerto Morelos dinner
at a new restaurant in the Port. It just opened this season, La Parrilla south of the square on Rojo Gomez.

Jan's drink was delivered in a most unusual fashion.

She is enjoying every moment, every bite and every sip.

Howard is pretending to enjoy himself tonight, a great disguise it is, as we have to head home to Canada in the morning.

Bob contemplating the day's events.

Allan anxious to get home to start the maple syrup production.

Ann and Bev looking forward to another week in Paradise!

Allan and I ordered the banana flambe dish for dessert
- OMG - it was good!

Love to all, we look forward to our trip back again this fall for another 3 months, December to February for sure, maybe a week or two into November and March - who knows?
