Saturday September 27, 2014

We all go to bed early - around 8:30 - 9:00p.m. and awake early - 7:00 am ish, that is not to be polite, it is because the time is right. Kicking Horse coffee is the entertainment - or task first thing in the morning, beans have to be ground and pressed. Oh, that first cup of Hoooodoojo - mmmm- good, then a trip to the bathhouse to get freshened up for the day then off for sightseeing and adventure

.

River Boat The American Queen at dock in Alton. Rumour has it that the boat is docked here awaiting repairs.

The casino at Alton, just a short distance from the marina where we are docked.

Today we travelled into St. Louis, this is the arch which  represents the gateway to the west.

Inside a church near the base of the Arch. Look at those pipes for the pipe organ

The view of the  ball stadium  from the top of the arch.

More views from the arch

Debris collects along the shoreline of the Mississippi River.

The highest point on the arch.

This is Mary Lynn in the capsule which takes
us up to the top of the arch and back down again.

Greg shows obvious signs of
 uncertainty toward our capsule ride.

Following the arch ride and lookout
we took time to view the museum.

 Exhibits in the museum

When we finished the arch and
museum we took a short walk about town.

We had a delicious lunch here at the Brew House

I think we are wearing Greg out.

During a walk about we caught this
wedding happening at the stadium

We made a visit to the Budweizer Brewery

The horses are beautiful.

A bridge on the return to Alton where the Fracas is docked.

This is a roadway through a levy. New terminology abounds here. In 1993 the Mississippi reached new high water levels due to major flooding for rain run off.  When the water levels subsided levees were built. These are made of a high mound of earth going a great distance

Sunset at Alton, the stern view from our dockage location. That is the riverboat "American Queen" you can see in the distance.

This is our bow view, a bridge coming into Alton in its
nightly glory reflecting in the water.
