Sometimes we overlook the beauty in our own back yards. This interesting blossom was found in the garden here at our Casa. I have no idea what its name is but that doesn't take away from one's interest and awe of its beauty.
Today, as promised, we went to the Isla Mujeres (Woman Island); we left Puerto Morelos at about 8:40 a.m. on the ADO.
We arrived in Cancun approximately 30 minutes later and took a taxi from the ADO bus station to Puerto Juarez to meet with the passenger ferry to the Island
Our departure time from Cancun to Isla Mujeres was 10:00 am
Shrimp fishing boats are docked - I hope that means we can still get shrimp for dinner tonight
Seats were available on the upper deck for us to sit
The water colours are just beautiful

Here is the Pelican Picture you wanted Clinton
These pics are taken on the side of Isla Mujeres opposite of the Cancun side - so that would be the South end of the North East coast.
It looks like there has been a lot of damage from hurricanes and sever storms over the years
Every day brings with it the need for food and we love to eat. When choosing a place to satisfy our appitites we look for reasonable prices and a certain ambiance which is unique to our liking. The Velazquez had all we were looking for. They clean the seafood amid the tables of dining guests. Guaranteed fresh!!
Three women worked diligently for the length of time we were there cleaning the seafood as it was being brought to them.
The chef was not available to cook lunch because we were a bit early so we went for a walk and came back later.
Fishermen getting their nets ready for the next fishing trip. The Pelican is waiting patiently for their outing so he too can have some more food.
Navel Base on the Island
When we went back to theVelazquez the chef was in and we were able to order lunch. Allan and Bob ordered fish filet
I ordered Squid
Edith ordered shrimp
Our lunch dishes hit the spot and were greatly
enjoyed by each of us.
Should you ever have the opportunity to eat here I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
We left the Island at about 2:00 p.m. for the main land. If we do this trip again I would seriously consider renting a golf cart for the day, the fee was $40.00. We only walked through the touristy area of the Island so I am certain we didn't get to experience the true feel of the island as we would have had we rented a cart and done more serious sightseening.
If your day does not come with laughter
it is a day not worth remembering.
Allan was the source of major laughter to all of us today. We needed a taxi from the pier back to the bus station, the man in charge flagged one immediatley. Bob gets in the front seat while Allan and I took the back seat with Edith in the middle. Now the taxi was a small car - sardine can in size and in somewhat disrepair. That is another story involving Edith. You also have to take into account that since Allan is at the golden age of 65 he bends in places he never used to and doesn't bend in places he did at one time. The man in charge closes my door and indicates to the young driver who looked to be about 15 years old "go" and he did just that. An obedient young man but not very observant. Allan had chosen to take the seat behind the driver and he wasn't all in yet. He only had his right foot and leg in and still working on getting the rest of himelf in when the driver took off. OMG it was sooo funny to see him hopping on his left foot, left arm over the top of the door while trying to keep up with the take off speed of the taxi and yelling Whoa! Whoa!
I have to be serious here for a minute though, it was not funny at first but once we got the driver to stop and Allan wedged somewhat comfortably into the car we all had a good laugh. It was as funny as the time he got his big toe caught in the mouse trap.
Now the story of Edith. For those of you not knowing her, she is a tiny person about 4 ft. 5 inches in height. We let her have the centre seat in the back of the taxi so she can see where she is going and it allows her to have a foot rest at a comfortable height. She had quite a ride to the bus station. Our young driver drove like he owned the whole road. Not only was Edith having difficulty staying off our laps when swaying to the left and right but most of the trip she had her eyes covered.
We will never forget our trip to Isla Mujeres and the taxi ride back to the ADO station.

Another great day in the Yukatan.
