Well today was their last day in Mexico for this vacation. They have all had a wonderful time, lots of new experiences and lots of memories to take back with them.
I was interested in their impressions of Puerto Morelos - the first night the kids said Puerto Morelos was like being back on the Island because Grandpa knows everyone. The girls love it and would truly like to live here. The boys, well the youngest misses his friends back home and the oldest is a little shy and hasn't met any girls yet. As for the parents, Dad was impressed; he says it has more than he expected and Mom likes it but would prefer an all-inclusive (and probably without kids. But can you blame her - notta).
We have tried to let them have their family time and yet be with them often. A difficult task but we are still on speaking terms so can only assume we succeeded and allowed them to have a wonderful family vacation in Mexico. I hope they go home with the same appreciation for Puerto Morelos and the Mayan Riviara as we have.
The other evening at dinner we had them rate the things they did while here; the scores were 1 being the lowest and 3 being the highest with each child giving a vote:
The visit to the school and meeting the sponsored children rated the highest.
The glass bottom boat and snorkeling rated number 2 (it would have tied with the school visit but our youngest Granddaughter got sea sick causing her to give it a lower score).
The Crococun Zoo rated number 3.
Last was the Tulum Ruins - even the swim in the ocean didn't provide a high score on this one. I scored the kids high on this adventure because even though they were not overly enjoyed with this side trip they made Grandma happy by going and they didn't complain. Great kids!
I wanted them to see the ruins in Tulum so they would know there is important history here, that it is more than just a vacation spot. It was not a highlite to their vacation but I bet it will be one side trip they will not forget because they were hot, tired and bored silly. Would you say there was a method to my madness?
Older brother is holding his little sister's kite, he says " Maybe if I let out enough string no one will notice the princesses on it"
Dinner was at El Faro - our favourite spot for special occasions. This being their last night called for a special occasion dinner.
A walk and some play time in the square along with icecream from our favourite icecream parlor topped of a wonderful day in Puerto Morelos
The day started with a walk on the beach and refreshments in the square
Later there was lunch at Cantina Habanero
Someone misses their good old cheeseburgers and homemade fries
a great place to fly a kite
Grandpa is tired of playing with his so he soon puts it away (hahaha).
Building sand castles is always fun
Then the little one wants his kite flying, so Grandpa helps

Grandpa gets to put this one away too.
Tired of playing with kites we now try bubbles in the wind
This was a familiar sight this summer - soldiers walking the beach from time to time
Today we get our hair braided at a local hair salon
They love each other so much
The new hair style - she was so proud of it - notice the one long braid on her left side.
