February 7,8,9,10 and 11, 2011

We left Tara at about 1 in the afternoon and arrived at our hotel in Toronto around 3. This was a bit strange for us because we are so far away from larger centres, it would be a 6 hour drive from home.

This is what Ontario looked like on our way to Toronto

By 3:45 on Tuesday afternoon we were on our second cerveza and soaking up the hot sunny weather!
The beach is quiet on our 6:30 a.m. walks

We found this little restaurant open early and had coffee

Attractive coffee mugs and saucers

There are new restaurants opening up all over the town - some of our favourites from last year have closed and many others have opened. When you go out to eat you feel like a child on Christmas morning wondering which gift to open first.

Following our "booze run" into Cancun we stopped and had a late lunch at this new place just down the road from where we are staying.

This dish gets served to you while you wait for your order
Seafood and garlic is there anything better? Nota!

We have a plantain tree growing in the garden at our villa producing fruit this year. Plantains are in the banana family but used more for cooking than eating raw as we do with the dessert banana.

The banana/plantain grow in bunches upside down to us which is really rightside up for them. You can also see coconuts growing on another tree in the background. They are ready for eating and are they good. The brown ones we get in Canada are garbage to the Mexicans - past being ripe.

It is somewhat cloudy here today , no breeze and very hot - I am sweating just sitting here working on the blog.

These pics were taken about 7 this morning - not too many people out yet

This was an interesting find - looks like a human head but it is a marker in the water . I have been watching too much CSI, still looking for the rest of the body.

It seems to be covered with algea/carbuncles - yuk

A pelican looking for food

This man is making plastic mesh - the type used for onion bags, etc. . I had never thought of how these were made, but was surprised to see they are made by people, I guess I just assumed they were made by machine. It looks like a time consuming process and I expect the payment for the finished product is minimal.

On our walk this morning we were joined by this little fellow. He stayed with us for a long time then left when we walked past a sidewalk restraunt. I guess he found the smell of food more  intriguing than walking.
