When one says standing room only at Ed's Cantina Habaneros - it is just that "Standing Room Only"

We stopped at Ed's on our way back to the casa

Abraham has a great talent and a wonderful sence of humour!

When doing our evening walk-about we met Abraham - the artist. His work is just awesome!!

We had dinner at the "Biergarten"this evening. Here is a picture of Ulanda and Dieter enjoying their special of "German Pork Hocks" - delicious!!

The flowers were just beautiful. Later in the evening we walked past

and the church was full to capacity with people standing outside.

When passing past the church we noticed it was decorrated for a wedding.

Edith took advantage of the day and went shopping - she has her eyes closed here - I think she is trying to calculate Mexican pecos to Canadian dollars.

There was a large tent set up and bags in it with numbers (one for each swimmer) on them. I am assuming they held personal items for the swimmers to pick up upon their return to shore. We can only guess where the wearer of the prosthetic devise is!

As with any event there are lots waiting for their time to participate

There are lots of participants, various classes and lots of excitement

Participants are of all ages and each has a number printed on them

People are collection on the pier, music is playing,

announcments are being made.

We find out there is a swimming competition!

We notice there is lots of activity at the pier - 7 in the morning - this is unusual!

Today we were to go to Coba Ruins, however due to vehicle problems the trip was postponed until Monday. One thing about vacationing in Mexico you have to understand the way of the Mexican - mañana is a word used very often - translated it says "tomorrow" the true meaning is "maybe tomorrow"

Hey, we are on vacation - what else do we have to do other than eat, drink, relax and be happy! So we accept the word mañana and move on with optimism.

Danny Rippe and his family needs your HELP. Danny was in a very tragic accident a few days ago. He has searious burns on 90% of his body. His lungs are burned. All of his hair is gone. At this moment he is in an induced coma so he doesn't have to deal with the pain. Tomorrow nite we will be having a benifit concert to help him and his family. Cantina Habanero will be donating 50% of our dinner sales and the employees will be donating their salaries for the day. Please come in and help Danny and his 5 year old son. There will be several performances by wonderful musicians who will also be donating their tips and performances for Danny. For those of you who are not in Mexico and cannot come to the benifit, a paypal account will be set up so you can help. We will keep you posted. A special note on Danny: This is a very kind and gentle person. We have had the pleasure of knowing him for some time know. Even the company he keeps are way cool kids. His 5 year old son is a gem and does not yet know the seariousness of his father's condition. I know times are tough now. They are for us too. However, this is a tragidy that needs to be addressed asap. I know you will do what you can.

The puzzle got completed finally after 3 weeks -

it was only 500 pieces, 500 difficult pieces!

We stopped at Cantin Habanaro for the regular Friday Night Meet and Greet. We found a chair for Edith.

Jan was singing at Cantina Habanaros - Ed gets many great preformers to come into his establishment on a regular basis. It is a good idea to come early if you want a seat or it is standing room only.

Today has been a somewhat quiet day. It started out with a little jaunt to the centre of town for a few groceries, then it started to sprinkle rain. We stopped at Cantina Habanero for coffee then trudged on back to our casa.

There is not much happening here as you may have guessed. The others are reading while I update the blog. Edith took a nap - still hasn't mentioned playing cards - ya think she forgot?? I won't mention it if no one else does.

There is an other event going on at the square later this evening - we are looking forward to it, hopefully is doesn't get rained out.

Tomorrow we are off the Coba Ruins, we are looking forward to that. It will be a first time visit for us.

Allan was master chef for dinner last night - we purchased pizza from "Pizza Del Carmen" in the Colonia yesterday - we only had to warm it up ----mmmmm Good! We ordered the supreme and the Hawaiian when we were there earlier in the day- both were excellent!

About a half hour after the musical performance started we noticed smoke rising from a location close by. Vacationing Fire Chief Elliott responded on foot to see if there was need for assistance. Two young people barely escaped with their lives when flames erupted within their thatched roof accommodation. One of the two suffered burns to various parts of his body and was later transported to hospital. No word yet today as to how he is doing. The local fire department responded and soon had the fire under control preventing damage to nearby homes and their occupants.

These kids and other musicians did a great job. I forgot to take insect repellent - the mosquitoes made us leave before the event was over . This will not be the case next year!

After returning from the Colonia we attended the 6th Annual Music Festival and the Elementary School here in town

This photo was taken out at the intersection coming in off the main highway into Puerto Morelos. A nice addition and smooths the flow of traffic. It is much safer for pedestrian traffic crossing to and from the Colonia than last year.

During our walk throughout the Colonia yesterday we came across this building - not sure yet what it is but look like a children's daycare or school

We thought we found a dew worm - silly Canadians! It has lots and lots of legs - giant millipede perhaps.
