We crossed the bridge in Little Current at 6:45 in the morning, the weather was clear with a temp of -20 and windchill of -30. The roads were clear and dry with light traffic.
We had the pleasure of watching the full moon set along the way. If you have never had that experience - it is more beautiful than that of the rising full moon. The moon is bigger and the yellow/orange colour is brighter if you can imagin that. Just awesome!
The trip was none eventful this year, even in the snow squall. We arrived in Tara at around 6:00 P.M., had dinner with Bob and Edith and caught up on conversation since last seeing each other.

A wink and a smile from winter?We are ready to leave tomorrow morning good and early. Lady has been delivered to the Kennel, the housesitters are in place, Gadget has petsitters she will be comfortable with - and we were packed (and have been since before Chistmas). All is nicely falling into place.

We had dinner here, there are so many restraunts in this little town that we did not have time to get here last year so we put it on " our first places to go list" this year. Again, another restaurant with great food

Today has been very cool with high winds – not our usual weather for this time of year in Mexico. We didn’t do too much other than go out for lunch at John Gray’s Mother-in-law’s, we did some souvenir shopping at the Mayan Handicraft Center, had dinner at Hotel Posada Amor and enjoyed a nightcap at Ed’s. Ed had a live band playing favorites from the Beetles and Rolling Stones – but nothing from the Dave Clark 5 while we were there. They all sound the same to me so it’s not like I missed hearing the DC5, now if they had played Country and missed Johnny Cash I’d have complained!
We are looking forward to Dwayne and his family joining us tomorrow and hoping the weather doesn’t stay cool and windy.

This morning was a late start for me; Allan is like the rooster – up at the crack of dawn, daylight arrived at about 6:15 he says. I didn’t get up until about 20 min to 8 and woke up about an hour after that – it took two coffees with Baileys.
We were able to enjoy the beach before the rain came late in the afternoon, even went snorkeling for a while. I enjoy snorkeling but my fear of the water causes me some problems, it takes a lot of self control with some days being worse that others. It does provide me with a personal satisfaction in that I have the ability to control it, although today when the nose piece of the mask started coming up my nostrils it was time to get out. I was not able to get to the point of personal control to relax and breathe through my mouth, subconsciously I was trying to breathe through my nose as well and it didn’t work. I do like the dry snorkel I have purchased, it has a floating ball in the top and when the snorkel goes underwater the ball floats up and blocks off the air hose stopping any water of getting into your mouth if you inhale at the wrong time.
This summer Jeromy, Brooklyn and I took snorkeling lessons through Waterways in Sudbury; it was fun for all of us and of course they are like fish in the water. Anie the instructor, was very patient with me and didn’t push me too hard so I didn’t look foolish in front of everyone – I even did a 7 foot dive from the surface, imagine that! Oh, and I didn’t tell you I can’t swim either, thank goodness I can float, fat is good for something.
We have had a little rain this afternoon; it didn’t cool off any- there is just no sun shining. A few brave souls stayed on the beach (under their sun umbrellas), we saw the dark clouds coming in and headed back to our cabana in time to stay dry. Later we braved the weather with our dollarama rain ponchos and went out for groceries. While we were out it started to rain a little heavier, we heard voices above us, looking up we saw 2 waiters from the restaurant above Martin’s grocery store waving us on up. It looked like a good place to eat so we checked out the dinner menu and made reservations for the evening of Feb 2nd our 41st Wedding Anniversary. As I have said many times before, we have never had a meal anywhere in Puerto Morelos that we did not enjoy so I have the same expectations for this upcoming evening. I will let you know how it turns out.
In the early evening we started out for another night on the town. While on our way we met up with 2 young ladies (Michelle and Michelle) who are also staying at the Cabanas Puerto Morelos. The four of us went to Ed’s Cantina Habanero to meet with Frank (www.vivapuertomorelos.com) and get acquainted at the weekly Meet & Greet. After drinks we stopped at Hola Asia for a delicious dinner. This is a first visit to Puerto Morelos for these two, they have been enjoying their stay here so much they are making plans to come back again next year.
In conversations with locals it is evident they are greatly concerned with the impact and detrimental affects future Cancun development plans will have on this beautiful, quiet little town, its residents and vacationers. We will be watching Frank’s forum to keep up to date.
